Finding Thabo is a fun, interactive game for young children based on the “Where’s Wally” look-seek-find concept.
Thabo’s name means joy.
He represents every child’s hopes and dreams, and is helping children across South Africa get ready for Grade R.
Thabo is curious about the world around him, and is eager to learn new things. He spends just 10 minutes a day playing his favourite picture game – and his active young mind develops quickly because of this.
Mostly, you’ll find Thabo doing what he loves most…reading!
Finding Thabo is designed as an early learning development (ECD) tool for children aged 3-6 years.
It consists of:
Finding Thabo pictures may look like regular scenes from everyday life, but each one is layered with hundreds of research-based cognitive activities that get kids’ brains humming.
The activities stimulate millions of neural pathways and build foundations for lifelong learning – all through play.
The pictures, and the activities they unlock, also represent one full year of Grade RR school readiness content and exercises.
It’s an integrative approach, so the exercises do loads of things at once!
When children look for Thabo, they learn amazing skills.
They learn colours, shapes, numbers and letters.
They learn how to investigate, tell stories and make connections.
They also develop critical skills like:
How do we know? Take a look:
Finding Thabo is the only Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme in South Africa that is hyper-focused on addressing specific learning deficits and enhancing executive function – and it’s achieving incredible results.
In donating or purchasing a Finding Thabo product, you’re helping to change the lives of future generations.
Through our model of training early childhood development (ECD) practitioners to help children find Thabo, we are directly addressing deficits in children in under-resourced communities.
Target 2025
When you buy a learning kit of 10 pictures and a guidebook, a portion of those funds sponsors a child in an under-resourced community in South Africa.
